Ferns

I love ferns. They are some of my favorite plants, but for the life of me I can't tell the difference between most of them. Clearly, I am going to have to take pictures of different parts of the plant and at different times of the year to be able to distinguish them all.

Osmunda regalis (Royal Fern) (Parker Meadow, 8/20/12 10am)

Polystichum acrostichoides (Christmas Fern) (Lower Vine Brook, 6/9/13 1pm)

Osmundastrum cinnamomeum (Cinnamon Fern) (Parker Meadow, 7/1/12 12pm)

Dennstaedtia punctilobula (Eastern Hay-Scented Fern) (Paint Mine, 7/5/12 1pm)

Onoclea sensibilis (Sensitive Fern) (Lower Vine Brook, 6/17/12 12pm) This was growing next to the path connecting Emerson Rd. with North St.

Matteuccia struthiopteris (Ostrich Fern, Fiddlehead Fern) (Willard's Woods, 6/17/12 12pm) This is a rather large fern, perhaps 3' tall. It grows along the main gravel path near the North St. entrance along the section with the rock walls on both sides between the pond and the conifer stand.

Thelypteris palustrus (Marsh Fern) (Parker Meadow, 9/9/17 5pm)

(Lower Vine Brook, 6/17/12 12pm) A smaller fern, perhaps 1'-2' tall. This was growing next to the path connecting Emerson Rd. with North St.
